Ideal Location

The experience and knowledge that students gain from their traditional courses and extracurricular activities are supplemented by the access to SCMA’s successful internship program. Internships are an important part of the major because they allow students to apply what they are learning in the classroom to “real world” situations. SHU’s close proximity to the New York City/Tri state area as well as businesses throughout Fairfield County, gives students the opportunity to work at high profile companies such as ABC News, NBC, CBS, and MTV in addition to many other impressive corporations that conveniently neighbor Sacred Heart University.

Real World Experience

SCMA encourages all Media Studies and Digital Communication majors to experience at least one internship before they graduate, and many majors complete two or three. Not only do students gain valuable experience but they receive academic credit for their internship learning experiences. In addition to completing internships at top corporate media outlets, some students choose to focus on community outreach and teacher training opportunities depending on their career goals and personal interests.
